European plane maker Airbus SE (AIR.FR) said Thursday that
VietJet Aviation (VJC.VH) ordered 15 A321XLR aircraft and would
convert an order for five A321neo aircraft from its existing
backlog to A321XLR.
VietJet will be among the first airlines to receive the
long-range A321XLR, Airbus said. The order will allow VietJet to
expand its network, flying longer routes across Asia, the company
said.
VietJet also signed a new training agreement with Airbus
Services, Airbus said, which involves Airbus positioning two new
A320 Family full-flight simulators at the carrier's training
center. Airbus will also provide training services to the airline
and its instructors, the company said.
