Chilean energy holding company SCL EnergĂa Activa and local
brokerage and investment bank LarrainVial are studying building a
$500 million liquefied natural gas regasification plant in
Colombia, daily paper Diario Financiero reported Thursday.
Earlier this year, Pacific Rubiales Energy Corp. (PEGFF, PRE.T)
partnered with Belgium shipping group Exmar NV (EXM.BT) to develop
an LNG export project in northern Colombia.
"Since this is a complex project and it would involve a lot of
money we need to study all the variables. We're doing a market
analysis and looking for potential buyers, and also getting a feel
for demand," said a person close to the matter, according to Diario
Financiero.
Representatives at SCL Energia Activa and LarrainVial weren't
available for comment.
