Newmix(TM) Single-Use Mixing Technology Saves Time and Reduces Risk
and Cost New product sets standard for mixing powders, liquids at
varied temperatures and volumes MINNEAPOLIS, April 11 /PRNewswire/
-- ATMI Packaging, a leading global supplier of single-use flexible
film-based packaging, introduces Newmix(TM) Single-use Bioprocess
Solutions, a new product to be unveiled at INTERPHEX (booth #2367).
Newmix has been designed and developed especially for the bio-
pharmaceutical industry to reduce risk of cross-contamination and
lower total cost of ownership. Manufactured to meet the rigorous
bio-pharmaceutical cleanliness certification standards, Newmix,
with its ground-breaking technology is the only product available
today with flexible film-based mixing bags that allow for the
optimum mixing of powder-to-powder, powder-to-liquid and
liquid-to-liquid ingredients. Newmix integrates the mixing and
storing of those critical active ingredients at varied temperatures
and volumes (from less than 1 to 200 liters) through a
non-invasive, closed-end engineered design. ATMI Packaging is known
for its commitment to partner with customers in the development of
engineered solutions that assist in the handling of critical active
ingredients, both liquids and powders. "As single-use mixing and
storing systems gain prominence in the bio-pharmaceutical industry,
Newmix offers the only technology capable of blending high
concentrations of powders and liquids at varied temperatures and
volumes in a controlled environment while meeting the stringent
requirements of the industry," said Mario Philips, Biopharma
Business Unit Manager. Newmix allows users to minimize their
investment through single-use technology, reduce waste treatment
costs of cleaning agents by eliminating cleaning and sterilization
between batches, and cut validation costs. Newmix also decreases
the risk of potential cross-contamination while protecting the
environment and the operator from potentially toxic substances.
Currently, ATMI Packaging offers two Newmix systems: X-Mix and
C-Mix. -- The Newmix X-Mix System is for smaller volumes (up to 10
liters/kilograms). Homogeneity is obtained by rotating a single-use
hourglass-shaped bag around its center point, which results in
optimum mixing of powder-to-powder, liquid-to-powder and
liquid-to-liquid critical ingredients. -- The Newmix C-Mix System
is best used for larger volumes up to 200 liters. Here, homogeneity
is obtained by using a single-use, drum- shaped bag that
incorporates an enclosed and isolated stir- rod/impeller. Customers
have the ability to mix high proportions of powder into liquid with
the C-Mix system. ATMI Packaging's knowledge of advanced materials
is one of the company's core strengths. Its proprietary films are
manufactured in its facilities and meet approval standards for each
application. Every step of the film's development, as well as
package assembly, is done in a controlled environment under ISO
Class 5 cleanroom conditions. About ATMI Packaging ATMI Packaging,
a division of ATMI, Inc., is a leading global supplier of
