Mykrolis Names Peter S. Kirlin as Vice President of Business
Development BILLERICA, Mass., June 10 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ --
Mykrolis Corporation (NYSE:MYK), a leading supplier of components
and subsystems to the semiconductor industry, today appointed Peter
S. Kirlin to the newly created position of vice president of
business development responsible for strategic planning activities
including mergers and acquisitions. Kirlin served from 2000 to 2003
as chief executive officer and chairman of the board for Dupont
Photomasks, Inc. (NASDAQ:DPMI), a developer and producer of
advanced photomasks for the semiconductor and microelectronics
industry. Previously, he spent 12 years at ATMI, Inc., a supplier
of semiconductor manufacturing materials, where he served in
increasingly responsible management roles, including the post of
group vice president of ATMI's Technologies and Services Group. In
that role, he was responsible for significant merger and
acquisition activities as well as corporate research, human
resources and administration. Before ATMI he worked at American
Cyanamid Corporation as a project leader and conducted
post-graduate research projects at the University of Munich's
Institute of Physical Chemistry. C. William Zadel, chairman of the
board and chief executive officer, said, "Peter brings a wealth of
technical and managerial expertise to Mykrolis, along with an
excellent understanding of the semiconductor industry. We are
committed to grow Mykrolis to greater levels of performance for our
customers, our employees and our shareholders. Peter will help us
develop and implement the growth strategies that will yield these
results." "I am very pleased to join Mykrolis," Kirlin said. "As
the largest worldwide supplier of contamination control
technologies in the semiconductor industry, Mykrolis is poised to
capitalize on a number of growth opportunities. With semiconductor
device dimensions continuing to shrink and with the introduction of
new manufacturing materials and processes, the role of
contamination control to the semiconductor industry should continue
to grow in importance. I look forward to working with the team at
Mykrolis to help identify and realize opportunities to expand its
business." Kirlin serves on the board of Akrion Corporation, a
privately held suppler of batch immersion and single wafer wet
processing equipment. He holds a Ph.D. degree in chemical
engineering from the University of Delaware and a B. S. in chemical
engineering from Pennsylvania State University. About Mykrolis
