Award-winning AXS-200/600 series expands triple-play testing into
the home network QUEBEC CITY, April 30 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ --
EXFO Electro-Optical Engineering Inc.
(NASDAQ:EXFONASDAQ:TSX:NASDAQ:EXF) announced today the release of
the ARU-100 HPNA Test Probe for the AXS-200/600 series. This new
probe, based on the specifications of the Home Phone-Line
Networking Alliance (HPNA), is specially designed for the
characterization of HPNA deployments and triple-play services in
FTTx environments. The residential home network is the new frontier
for service providers offering triple-play services (voice, video
and data). To deliver a positive triple-play experience to the end
user, service providers must ensure high quality of service (QoS)
and effective home network bandwidth management to maintain
reliability for their services. HPNA technology is being deployed
by service providers as it provides the reliability and performance
needed to deliver bandwidth-intensive triple-play services. By
allowing reuse of the existing wires in the home, HPNA is gaining
popularity for in-home distribution of triple-play services. The
EXFO ARU-100 HPNA Test Probe offers service providers a
cost-effective solution for installing and troubleshooting HPNA
triple-play networks. Coupled with the AXS-200/600 series, the
ARU-100 allows service providers to not only prequalify and
troubleshoot the physical-layer aspects of the coaxial home network
but also enable a full range of triple-play testing via the HPNA
network. As such, the AXS-200/600 series is the first product
available that can address the need to perform triple-play QoS
testing in the HPNA environment. Residential HPNA deployments are
applicable to fiber and copper access networks, two environments in
which the AXS-200/600 series can be utilized. Combined with the
AXS-200/600 series' extensive range of test capabilities for
ADSL2+, VDSL2, Ethernet, copper and voice-over-IP (VoIP), IP
television (IPTV) and data, the ARU-100 HPNA Test Probe brings
powerful functionalities for validating triple-play HPNA networks.
Many time-saving QoS measurements can be performed such as HPNA
device discovery, signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), data rates,
attenuation, spectral noise as well as a wide range of VoIP, IPTV
and data analysis. All QoS parameters are compared against
user-definable pass/fail criteria, which greatly simplify the
testing process and help service providers identify and locate
problem areas in the home network. "Service providers are facing
many challenges as they ramp up triple-play services," said Etienne
Gagnon, EXFO's Vice-President of Product Management and Marketing.
"The ARU-100 HPNA Test Probe is the latest addition to our
award-winning AXS-200/600 series, which facilitates accurate and
economical installation and troubleshooting of triple-play services
in the FTTx home network." For further information about the
