Overnite Drivers Sweep Tennessee Championships NASHVILLE, Tenn.,
May 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Four Overnite Transportation Company drivers
from Memphis, Tenn., drove away with championship trophies at the
Tennessee Truck Driving Championships held this past week, securing
positions at the 2005 National Truck Driving Championships to be
held in Tampa, Fla., this summer. (Logo:

first in the five-axle class, veteran Memphis Road Driver Tommy
Hawks earned his 11th state truck driving title. An Overnite driver
for more than 23 years, Hawks is a former America's Road Team
Captain and also has served on Overnite's All-Star Road Team and
the Tennessee Trucking Association's state road team, and was named
Tennessee Truck Driver of the Year in 1999. Memphis City Driver
Danny Drewery came in first in the flatbed division and earned his
third state championship title, while Joe Reese outscored the
competition to win the twins division and Chris Bodan delivered a
winning performance in the tanker class. Also delivering strong
performances for Overnite were Tim Sproles of Bristol, Tenn., who
came in second in the sleeper division, and Chattanooga, Tenn.,
drivers Brad Cothran, Mike Gentry and James Kendrick who each
placed third, respectively, in the flatbed, three-axle and
five-axle competitions. A team of 18 drivers represented the
company at the Nashville event. In addition to negotiating the
competition course, all competitors are rated on their driving
skills, scored on a written test and a personal interview, and must
have excellent safety records. On May 16, UPS (NYSE:UPS) announced
