PR Newswire (US)
GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas, May 18 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Precis, Inc.
(NASDAQ:PCIS), a leader in the development and marketing of
healthcare savings programs and services, today announced that its
subsidiary, Access HealthSource, Inc. ("Access") has renewed its
Third Party Administrator ("TPA") contract with the El Paso
Independent School District ("EPISD") to provide services under its
EPISD Health Care Trust Medical Plan ("Plan"). Under the contract
terms, Access will provide claims adjudication, customer service
activities regarding coverage or medical claims, section 125
flexible spending account administration, COBRA administration,
utilization review/utilization management services and medical
provider network administration services. Access provides cost
effective tools for public and private employer groups that have
chosen to utilize partially self-funded strategies to finance their
employee benefit programs. Access is also affiliated with the panel
of participating health care providers contracted with Advantage
Care Network, Inc. ("ACN") that provides access to quality medical
services to meet the needs of EPISD health plan members while
providing savings to the members and the district for these health
care expenses. "We have served as the TPA for EPISD's Plan since
January 2003 and are very pleased to renew our contract with the
district, which is our largest public sector client. In 2005, our
utilization review and management services team of professionals,
along with our entire customer service team, and the Plan's
administrator, have achieved a 68% savings on medical claims," said
Frank Apodaca, Precis' President and C.O.O. and the President and
C.E.O. of Access. As healthcare costs have skyrocketed in the
nation over the last five years, many Texas school districts have
grappled with creating and providing attractive benefits packages
to recruit and retain qualified personnel. "Our experience with
Access has allowed us to continue to offer one of the most
attractive benefit packages in the region. Not only do we have one
of the best packages, but through Access, we have been able to beat
medical inflation and as a result enhance the benefit package we
offer district employees. Access has provided excellent service and
individualized assistance to district employees. Their proposal and
package was the most competitive in 2002, when we sought RFPs and
the fees at renewal remained more competitive than what the current
market place had to offer. EPISD looks forward to our continued
relationship," said Elizabeth Ann Bulos, Director, Employee
Benefits for EPISD. "As corporate citizens and tax payers in our
community, we believe it is our responsibility to help our school
districts. We provide cost-effective employee benefit programs that
enable them to attract and retain qualified, dedicated teachers and
administrators that lead and impact the lives of our children and
our future. Although the contract represents income to our company,
we are also gratified to know that we are contributing to the
health and well being of our community," said Mr. Apodaca. About
