Dayton Power and Light Offers Incentives to Distributors for Selling Energy Efficient V-Belts

Business Wire
Dayton Power and Light (DP&L), a subsidiary of The AES
Corporation (NYSE: AES), is participating in a program with Argonne
National Laboratories, Midwest Energy Efficiency Alliance and AEP
Ohio, a unit of American Electric Power (NYSE:AEP), to encourage
distributors of commercial products to sell energy efficient cogged
(or notched) V-belts.
The pilot program, which runs through October, is attempting to
transform the market and move businesses toward the use of cogged
V-belts, which run cooler, last longer and use two to three percent
less energy than the standard smooth V-belt, according to the U.S.
Department of Energy.
V-belts are used in electric motors in both industrial and
commercial markets. Cogged V-belts have perpendicular slots on the
belt’s length that reduce a belt’s bending resistance and improve
power transmission of motor systems.
Two participating distributors – Allied Supply and Johnstone
Supply – can earn incentives for increasing sales of cogged belts
during the program by encouraging customers to make the smart
energy choice and switch to the cogged V-belt.
Allied Supply has participating locations in Dayton, Lima and
Columbus. Johnstone Supply’s Columbus location is participating in
the pilot program.
The program is part of DP&L’s ongoing Energy Efficiency
efforts to help businesses save money through rebates for reducing
energy costs by installing higher energy efficiency equipment,
lighting and for designing and constructing buildings that are more
energy efficient than standard codes.
