General Motors will invest over $1 billion in two of its Flint,
Mich., plants to enable those facilities to produce next-generation
internal combustion engine heavy-duty trucks, the company said
Monday.
GM said it would invest $788 million in its Flint Assembly
facility to prepare it to assemble the next-generation trucks. The
Flint Metal Center will receive a $233 million investment for new
stamping dies to support production of the trucks, along with press
refurbishments and new equipment.
GM said Monday's announcement brings it U.S. manufacturing and
parts distribution facility investment commitments to more than
$30.5 billion since 2013. The company also said it announced over
$1.7 billion in investments for Flint-area operations this
year.
