Hancock Fabrics, Inc. (NYSE:HKF), today reported that sales in the four-week period ended April 29, 2006 totaled $27.5 million compared with $28.6 million for the same period of the prior year. Sales in comparable stores declined 3.0% in April. In the first quarter of fiscal 2006, total sales were $93.6 million versus $97.8 million in the same period of fiscal 2005, and comparable store sales declined 4.5%, including a 2.4% benefit from stores that are being liquidated in connection with store closing sale events.
