Target Corp. on Tuesday posted a letter on the company's website
from Brian Cornell in which the company's chief executive addressed
concerns surrounding the outbreak of Covid-19, commonly known as
coronavirus.
In the note, Mr. Cornell said Target stores are adding hours to
their payroll to have more workers cleaning the stores. "Like many
others, we're taking guidance from the CDC, which recommends
regular cleaning as one of the most important preventive measures
we can take," he said.
He also said Target is working to supply more cleaning products,
medicines and pantry stock-up items, as demand remains high, adding
"this weekend, we started to limit the number of key items per
purchase, which will allow more guests to get what they need."
Target has asked sick workers to stay home and is also asking
employees to travel only if it's "business critical," Mr. Cornell
said.
He also said "out of an abundance of caution, we're temporarily
stopping food sampling in our stores."
