Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. on Monday said it will invest $180
million in a new commercial manufacturing site in Plainville,
Mass., to expand its capacity for viral vector development and
manufacturing services.
The Waltham, Mass., maker of analytical instruments and
equipment for research, analysis and diagnostics said the project
will more than double its commercial viral vector capacity to
support increasing demand for gene therapies and vaccines.
Thermo Fisher said the 290,000-square-foot plant, which it
expects to complete in 2022, will add more than 200 jobs.
