Verizon Communications Inc. (VZ) on Monday said it received authority to operate from the General Service Administration, allowing it to receive orders from government agencies pertaining to the Enterprise Infrastructure Solutions contract, or EIS.

The EIS is a government-wide contract which allows federal agencies to purchase next-generation communications services. Verizon said government agencies are in the process of moving to EIS to procure information technology and telecommunications infrastructure.

Mike Maiorana, senior vice president, public sector, Verizon, said "We look forward to building upon our decades-long relationship with federal government and delivering next generation, mission-enabling services to address government and citizen needs."
