Redline to enable M2M automation with
real-time multi-service communications
TORONTO, Nov. 4, 2014 /CNW/ - Redline Communications
(www.rdlcom.com) Group Inc. (TSX: RDL), a leading provider of
mission-critical wireless networks for the oil and gas industry,
today announced that it has received a $2.7
million contract to provide the first phase of a high speed
wireless network for a local Argentina subsidiary of a "super-major" energy
company. This is the second large network deal in Argentina announced by Redline in the last
month.
Redline will be providing a single integrated high-speed
wireless network across the entire operation, allowing the
customer to take full advantage of the newest digital technologies
for advanced oilfield automation.
The Redline Virtual Fiberâ„¢ network, which has been successfully
trialed in the customer's oilfield, will simultaneously support
multiple business applications including:
- real-time remote monitoring and control of thousands of wells
and completion and separation facilities to optimize operations
(M2M);
- collaboration between remote teams at drilling sites and
elsewhere in the world to improve productivity and problem
solving;
- access by field workers to office documents, corporate systems
and the internet for increased productivity and well-being;
- operational video surveillance for visibility into remote
operations, improving safety.
"Redline specializes in wireless systems for challenging
oilfield environments, and this customer is definitely
leading-edge and committed to using the most advanced technology to
improve process efficiency, security and worker safety," noted
Louis Lambert, vice president of oil
and gas sales for Redline. "We have focused on understanding their
business needs as well as their networking needs, which allows us
to deliver additional value as their digital oilfield partner."
With the demand for bandwidth from their business units growing
exponentially and a large area of inhospitable terrain to cover,
this client required a network that was both powerful and rugged,
and had the capacity to grow with their business. Redline's
powerful wide-area wireless networks are purpose-built for the most
challenging locations and mission-critical applications and
installed as an end-to-end operating network specifically tuned for
this customer's unique requirements, delivering over 100 mbps of
reliable, low-latency connectivity over long distances. The
Redline backbone is capable of providing wireless coverage across
the entire oilfield and its software-driven design means the system
can be upgraded remotely with additional capacity and new features.
Lastly, the proven reliability of Redline's network components
means that expensive repair costs are minimized.
