Polar Star Mining Corporation ("Polar Star" or the "Company") (TSX VENTURE:PSR)
today announced the appointment of David J. Libby P.Eng as President and Chief
Operating Officer of the Company.


Mr. Libby has over 40 years of experience in the mining industry, which has
provided him with broad exposure to all aspects of operations management. He has
also gained significant executive expertise managing open pit and underground
mines. He has participated in new project development as well as upgrading
existing operations and due diligence reviews for corporate development.


Most recently, Mr. Libby was Executive Vice-President, Mining Operations of Aur
Resources Inc.'s worldwide mining operations. From 1994 to 2005, Mr. Libby was
Vice President, Mining Operations for Aur.


Previously, Mr. Libby was Vice-President, Mining, Noranda Minerals Inc.,
President and Chief Operating Officer, Dickenson Mines Limited and President and
Chief Operating Officer, Wharf Resources. He is a graduate of the Camborne
School of Metalliferous Mining and a member of the Association of Professional
Engineers of Ontario, the Canadian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy, the
Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Materials - U.K., and is a Chartered
Engineer of the Council of Engineering Institutions, U.K.

Mr. Libby will be nominated by the Company to serve on Polar Star's Board of
Directors.


Adam Rochacewich, who has been Interim President since January 30, 2009, will
continue in his capacity of Chief Financial Officer.


Annual and Special Meeting of Shareholders - April 17, 2009

Polar Star will hold its Annual and Special Meeting of Shareholders on April 17,
2009. The time and location of the meeting will be announced in due course. The
record date for voting at the meeting was the close of business on March 13,
2009. The Special Meeting is required to deal with a resolution from dissident
shareholder and former President and CEO Douglas Willock.


The Company will issue a management information circular and provide a form of
proxy for all shareholders in advance of the meeting. The circular is expected
to be mailed by March 26, 2009 and to include a recommendation to shareholders
from the Board of Directors.
