Waxman's "Scrap Cares" Continues to Reduce Carbon Footprint; Commits to Rooftop Solar Energy Park in Burlington, Ontario

In accord with their recently launched "Scrap Cares" program,
Waxman Industrial Services Ltd. announced today they will be
incorporating a 500kW rooftop solar energy system on their
Burlington, Ontario industrial facility.
As part of their pledge to become a national leader in
preserving the environment, they have signed an agreement with a
Canadian based renewable energy company, committing their 86,000
s/f facility's rooftop to becoming an eco-friendly, utility scale,
solar energy park.
Under the agreement (brokered by commercial realtor Cushman
& Wakefield Ltd.), Atlantic Wind & Solar Inc. (PINKSHEETS:
AWSL) will finance, build and operate the rooftop solar energy
system, and the electrical power generated will be sold directly
into the grid to the Ontario Power Authority (OPA) for a total of
20 years, under the terms and conditions of the Ontario
government's Feed in Tariff Program (FIT).
Located in a predominately industrial area at 4350 Harvester Rd,
in Burlington, Ontario, the socially responsible, high tech power
station will be part of an energy preservation model known as
"distributed generation," which entails the production of
electricity closest to the areas where it is consumed. Therefore,
in addition to producing clean energy, the location of this solar
park will reduce the amount of needless energy lost during
transmission over long distances.
Waxman Industrial Services' President and CEO, Aaron Waxman
comments; "We are pleased to have the opportunity to participate in
Atlantic Wind & Solar's commercial rooftop solar program, and
hope that our actions today will be viewed by other landlords and
business owners as an example of how they too may help reduce the
amount of harmful carbon emissions that are being released into our
atmosphere." Mr. Waxman continued, "As a progressive recycling
company, preserving the environment is the very premise our
business has grown upon, therefore we feel participating in the
program is not only a way to exercise our social- responsibility,
but part of our overall business model."
Over the next 20 years, the solar energy system will generate
enough clean electricity to power approximately 100 homes, and will
generate sufficient energy to avoid the emission of over 10,350
tons of harmful CO2 gases into the earth's atmosphere. (The
equivalent of removing over 1500 cars from the road.)
Construction of the project is estimated to be completed by
Spring, 2011.
