French businessman Vincent Bollore may take over as chairman of the supervisory board of French media and telecom group Vivendi SA (VIV.FR), replacing current Chairman Jean-Rene Fourtou in 2014, French weekly Le Journal du Dimanche reported Sunday, citing unidentified sources.

The change of Vivendi's chairman won't happen before the end of this year or early next year and would be officially approved by shareholders in the 2014 general assembly, the weekly said.

Mr. Bollore, who entered the board in December, is one of the largest shareholders of Vivendi through his family investment firm Bollore SA (BOL.FR), which holds a 5% stake.

Vivendi is currently in the middle of a strategic shift to concentrate on its media assets, which include Universal Music Group, French TV company Canal Plus and a majority stake videogame giant Activision Blizzard (ATVI), while exiting from the telecom business.

A spokesman for Bollore declined to comment, while no officials at Vivendi were immediately available for comment.
