                PRESS RELEASE NO. 20/2002 FROM BERGESEN D.Y. ASA

                      BEA-TRADING ANNOUNCEMENT OWN SHARES

The Bergesen d.y. Group has today bought a total of 25,000 of its own shares,
being 16,000 A-shares and 9,000 B-shares for NOK 167.53 and NOK 154.00 per share
respectively.

After this purchase The Bergesen d.y. Group owns totally 123,000 of its own
shares, being 75,000 A-shares and 48,000 B-shares.

Total number of outstanding shares after this is 59,572,056.
