Development of PDA and Laptop computer fuel cell demonstration systems

CMR Fuel Cells Plc, the specialist developer of high power density fuel cell
stacks for portable electronics applications, is pleased to announce that it
has developed two new application specific, portable fuel cell demonstration
systems which will be unveiled at the forthcoming Fuel Cell Expo in Tokyo.
These systems are based on CMR's high power density direct methanol stacks
which are tailored for PDA and media player applications which need 3 Watts of
power and for laptop computer applications needing 25 Watts of electrical
power. The free-standing systems graphically show how methanol powered portable
fuel cell systems can `cut the last cord' and are expected to generate strong
interest for CMR's stack products amongst visitors representing major OEMs,
ODMs and manufacturers at the world's largest fuel cell expo.

John Halfpenny, CEO, CMR, commented:

`Being able to show CMR stacks functioning in application specific systems is a
fantastic step forwards for us. Being able to show customers, partners and
prospective customers just what we can do, right in their own `back yard' is a
major commercial asset and I am confident it will accelerate the progress we
are already making'.

Stephen Barlow, Chief Commercial Officer, added:

`Having already impressed the consumer electronics market with our technology
and design capabilities, this demonstration of a working system in a power
range with broad applications further consolidates CMR's position as a leading
expert for portable DMFC. We expect this news will excite our on-going
relationships as well as generate new interest as confidence builds for the
possibilities of fuel cells in portable electronics'.

CMR is targeting the portable electronics industry as the first application for
the fuel cell stack products that it is developing. CMR believes that this
market will offer significant revenue opportunities resulting from the strong
and pressing commercial need for extended run-times and rapid recharge for
portable consumer products and the sector's history of consistently and rapidly
adopting new technologies to meet consumer demand.

About CMR

CMR Fuel Cells plc is a UK based developer of high-performance compact fuel
cell stacks for the portable consumer electronics industry. The Company is
currently engaged with a number of consumer electronics OEMs and leading fuel
cell system developers and plans to become a leading supplier of small,
low-cost stacks for Direct Methanol Fuel Cell (`DMFC') power supply systems.

DMFC power systems can deliver longer electrical equipment run-times than
conventional battery solutions as well as delivering other superior performance
features such as instant recharge, which are ideally suited for modern feature
rich, `always on, always connected' wireless devices.

In 2006, an estimated 1 billion Li-Ion battery packs were sold world-wide to
power portable consumer electronic devices. This number is expected to rise to
an estimated 1.9 billion in the year 2008. The 2006 Frost and Sullivan report
predicted that sales of consumer portable fuel cells could reach over 38
million units by 2009.

CMR has a broad and growing intellectual property portfolio and experienced and
capable technical, commercial and management teams which, when combined with
its world-class purpose built facilities, strongly positions it at the
forefront of its high-growth target markets.
