AnalogicTech Introduces New Low Power LDO with PowerOK 250 mA
Linear Regulator Combines Low Ground Current, Small Package for
Portable Applications SUNNYVALE, Calif., Oct. 27 /PRNewswire/ --
Advanced Analogic Technologies, Inc., (AnalogicTech), a developer
of innovative power management solutions, announced today the
AAT3223, a 250 mA low dropout (LDO) linear regulator featuring an
extremely low quiescent current for power-sensitive portable
applications. The low power device also features an integrated
PowerOK function which monitors the LDO output voltage and alerts
the system when the output falls out of regulation. "Many portable
applications require a PowerOK function for a baseband processor or
logic chip, but must stay within an extremely strict power budget
to maximize battery life," says Jan Nilsson, vice president of
sales and marketing. "The AAT3223 allows designers to use an LDO
with an extremely low ground current while eliminating the external
microprocessor reset circuit normally required to support PowerOK."
Low Quiescent Current A member of AnalogicTech's NanoPower line,
the AAT3223 features a 250 mA output current and 1.1 uA quiescent
current. Dropout voltage, typically 190 mV at 100 mA, is also very
low. Designed for a wide range of functions in PDAs, cell phones,
digital cameras and other portable electronics products, the device
also offers a power conserving enable pin which when pulled low
will put the LDO into a shutdown mode to extend battery life. The
AAT3223 features over-temperature and current limit protection
circuits. To help minimize system cost, the device offers stable
operation with virtually any capacitor type including ceramic
capacitors. Pricing and Availability The AAT3223 is available
immediately in a small 6-pin SOT23 or 8-pin SC70JW package. It is
rated over a -40 deg C to 85 deg C temperature range. The AAT3223
is priced at $0.49 each in 1000 unit quantities. About AnalogicTech
