ESSEN, Germany, April 27, 2015 /PRNewswire/ --
Ferrostaal Automotive GmbH of Essen has completed a full 100 per cent
takeover of the Spanish assembly and logistics business of Grupo
Valautomocion of Valencia.
Employing around 500 workers at the sites in Valencia, Saragossa and Martorell
Valautomocion provides services for its customers Ford, Opel, SEAT
and Kautex in Spain. The expansion
of the sites and customer base are part of the growth strategy of
Ferrostaal Automotive. The parties agreed not to disclose the
purchase price.
"The acquisition of Valautomocion is our way into the second
most important production location in the European automotive
industry", said Hinnerk Pflüger, Managing Director of Ferrostaal
Automotive, "and we will be greatly extending the range of services
for automotive manufacturers and suppliers in Spain and thereby expanding the business
further." The focus will remain on the installation of the full
range of modules and assemblies, from simple all the way to
complex, and on sequencing services for the automotive industry. As
part of the Ferrostaal Automotive Group, Valautomocion has access
to the know-how, especially in the area of complex assembly
operations, and benefits from the financial strength of the
corporate group.
In addition to its logistics, rework, sequencing and simple
pre-assembly services, Valautomocion will also offer complex
assembly processes for complete modules in future as well as
"directed buy" processes.
"We are delighted at the commitment of Ferrostaal as this puts
us in a position to keep expediting our growth. Our customers will
benefit in future from comprehensive assembly and logistics
solutions", said Victor and Javier
Valero who will continue to manage the business of
Valautomocion.
Automotive production in Spain
has moved on since the recession to a position of significant and
sustained growth. The Valautomocion sites are close to the Ford,
Opel and SEAT car factories which will account for up to 47 per
cent of the annual automotive production in Spain (around 2.7 million vehicles) in 2015.
Ford in particular will be increasing its production volume to a
significant extent, investing 2.3 billion
euro in total and relocating the production of certain model
ranges to Spain.
The takeover of Valautomocion will put Ferrostaal Automotive on
the map at 11 sites in Germany,
Belgium, Poland and Spain. The customers include Ford, General
Motors, VW, Audi, SEAT and various suppliers (tier 1 and tier
2).
