National healthcare receivables industry leader, MDS, has
reached a significant milestone and is celebrating 30 years
in providing accounts receivable recovery services to hospitals and
healthcare systems across the country.
The company was founded in 1985 by G.
David Miller, CEO and President, and his wife Amy in
Sebring, Florida. Understanding
the needs and concerns of the healthcare provider community, they
developed a proprietary software system for their work with
physician practices and respected healthcare systems and
hospitals. In addition to the Professional Fee Billing
services they offered at the time, MDS pioneered Secondary Bad Debt
Collections, and secured their first national multi-hospital
system, setting the foundation for the company's future growth.
Gary Ball joined MDS as partner,
Chairman and CFO in 1997, adding a high level of financial and
business acumen to the company. MDS then relocated its corporate
office to Vero Beach, Florida, and
began a major expansion effort to broaden their client base outside
of the Southeast market. Now with clients not only
nationwide, but also in Alaska and
the U.S. Virgin islands, MDS continues to pursue their development
goals by offering a complete suite of revenue cycle solutions
including: Extended Business Office (Early Out), Primary
Collections and Secondary Bad-Debt Collections. They also
offer System Conversion A/R Assistance, for those endeavoring in a
major systems platform change, and also detailed A/R recovery
projects.
Today MDS services over 450 clients with over 400 employees in
offices located throughout the United States. With these
significant achievements realized over their 30 years in business,
MDS continues to be a privately held company, dedicated exclusively
to the healthcare industry. Rick
Masterson, Chief Operating Officer commented that
"Healthcare providers today continue to face many challenges such
as the implementation of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), and CMS
guidelines reducing Medicare bad debt reimbursement percentages. We
are all tasked with finding new ways to streamline costs and
increasing cash flow, while providing exceptional services in our
communities. Consequently, providers need a Vendor Partner
that will keep pace with the changing environment and offer
creative operational solutions supporting their initiatives.
Medical Data Systems, Inc. is a national agency with 30 years of
proven ability providing custom solutions, higher recoveries and
responsive customer service to its client base and
communities."
With an extraordinary client retention rate, Cheryl Spanier, Director of New Business and
Client Services shares "MDS has a division solely focused on client
satisfaction. All Clients are assigned a Client Service
Representative and Operations Manager to be sure their needs are
heard and met. We value the opportunity to serve and the
relationships we've cultivated throughout our 30 year history. We
work hard every day to continue to earn their trust, loyalty &
business."
Some of their clients have commented:
"I have found MDS to be a true partner with
every encounter we have with them. Through their counseling
approach to collections, they have created an environment in which
their interaction with our patients, mirrors the same care and
concern we strive for. Their collection and recovery of aged
accounts and insurance discovery far exceeds other agencies
offering similar services and does so without complaints."
Jeff Korne, Executive Director Revenue Cycle,
DeKalb Medical Center
"I continue to be amazed at the dollars MDS
brings to our system, no matter how old the accounts are.
IN addition, they treat our patients in a manner that does not
produce complaints back to us. They have some type of magic
formula that works."
Cathy H. Dougherty,
FHFMA, Vice President Revenue Cycle Management,
Gwinnett Hospital System, Inc.
"The primary function of this relationship has been
"secondary placements" and I must say that MDS has
been an exemplary partner during these years of service."
Lee Evins, Former Vice President Revenue Cycle
Management, Wellstar Health System
