16 March 2009 - 12:09PM
Dow Jones News
Energy Resources of Australia Ltd. (ERA.AU) said Monday it
applied for government approval of a heap leach expansion project
at the Ranger uranium mine in Australia's Northern Territory.
If approved, the heap leach facility will treat 10 million
metric tons of low grade mineralized material a year, contained in
stockpiles and the operating Ranger pit, to produce a total of
15,000 to 20,000 tons of uranium oxide.
ERA's pre-feasbility study into the heap leach project is
expected to be completed within the first half of 2009.
ERA is the world's fourth largest uranium producer.
