Air France-KLM said late Monday that it has entered into exclusive talks to buy LEAP-1A engines for its new fleet of Airbus A320neo-family planes.

The engines are manufactured by CFM International, a 50-50 joint venture between General Electric Co.'s GE Aviation and France's Safran SA.

The decision follows the carrier's order for 100 aircraft from Airbus, with purchase rights for 60 more planes.
