Expedia unlocks new path to save travellers time and money
through the Add-On Advantage
TORONTO, June 20, 2018 /CNW/ -- Today Expedia
® announced the launch of the Add-On Advantage, the
newest way for travellers to save time and money on travel. A new
study1 commissioned by Expedia found that, for the
majority of Canadians, the most time-consuming part of planning a
trip is finding the best price on transport and accommodations
(75%). The Expedia Add-On Advantage aims to give that time back to
travellers by providing access to hotel discounts up to 50 per cent
off. Travellers simply book a flight, car or package on
Expedia.ca and return any time before the trip starts to book a
discounted hotel.
According to survey results, an overwhelming number of Canadians
(80%) feel that getting a great deal was of high importance for
each and every holiday they booked, and are twice as likely to
spend time researching travel (86%) each month than planning ahead
for retirement (45%). Expedia wants to make finding a deal
and peace of mind easier.
Aaron Price, Senior Vice
President of Global Marketing at Brand Expedia, comments:
"Packages are still a great way to save, but we recognize it isn't
always the easiest or most convenient way for travellers to book. A
recent study2 shows more than 40 per cent of Canadians
prefer to book their flight first. The launch of the Add-On
Advantage is yet another example of how we are listening to our
travellers and helping to bring their next trip within reach. No
longer will they need to visit multiple sites when they know
they're getting guaranteed access to discounts on accommodation
simply from booking a flight, car or package. Better yet, it takes
away the pressure of planning and paying for everything up
front."
How to save with the Add-On Advantage:
- Travellers simply book a flight, car, or package to any
destination on Expedia.ca
- Hotel savings on select properties are instantly unlocked up
until the start of their trip
- The hotel stay needs to occur within the travel dates of the
flight, car or package purchase
Results of the study clearly showed that Canadians are, above
all, major planners and deal seekers when it comes to
travel3:
- Over 80 per cent of Canadians from the Atlantic provinces spend
the majority of their vacation planning time looking for the best
deal.
- Over 30 per cent of Canadians spend more than ten hours
researching a vacation.
- Almost half of respondents (45%) indicated they didn't want to
rush booking a trip due to the level of importance and
consideration needed.
- Nearly half of Quebecers (47%) indicated they spend most of
their time reading travel reviews.
- Twenty-five per cent of Quebecers spend time looking for
inspiration on social media – the highest group within Canada.
- After finding a deal, 56% of Albertans will likely tell their
friends and family about their exciting discovery.
