SANTA CLARA, Calif.,
Jan. 17, 2017 /PRNewswire/
-- Realtor.com® today announced Sign
SnapTM and Street PeekTM, two new
patent-pending features on the realtor.com® Android real estate app
that use image recognition technologies and augmented reality to
deliver property details and price data with just a few taps. The
realtor.com® app serves the rapidly growing community of
consumers who search for the home of their dreams on the go.
Realtor.com®, a leading provider of online real estate services, is
operated by News Corp [NASDAQ: NWS, NWSA]; [ASX: NWS, NWSLV]
subsidiary Move, Inc.
The Sign SnapTM feature, available today, uses image
recognition technologies, as well as the smartphone's camera and
GPS capabilities. Users can snap a photo of a real estate for-sale
or for-rent sign they happen to be near and the Sign
SnapTM feature will search the entire
realtor.com® property database, the most comprehensive
inventory of for-sale listings among competing national sites, to
locate such realtor.com® property. They can view related
information for that property such as photos, property details,
price data, open house dates and more. Users can share desired
listings with family and friends via email, text message and social
media.
This spring 2017, realtor.com® plans to roll out its
Street PeekTM feature, which lets users pan a
neighborhood street and, via augmented reality capabilities,
instantaneously surfaces property details about homes on that
street and in the realtor.com® database whether or not
they are for sale. Simply frame a home or group of homes with the
smartphone's camera and experience a real world view of the
environment with information overlays from the
realtor.com® database. Information such as the listing
or rental price, the recently sold price, estimated value, and the
number of bedrooms and bathrooms will be available on the framed
properties. Users can tilt the screen to view a map of the
neighborhood and access additional perspective on what's nearby, or
tap the displayed info card to obtain more details. Filtering
options let users locate specific property types, and users will be
able to search their history of street photos and listings
previously viewed.
"Finding the perfect home can be a stressful experience. That's
why we are continuing to optimize our mobile experience with
first-to-market features that support consumers throughout the home
buying process, making it as simple and stress-free as possible,"
said Nate Johnson, realtor.com®
chief marketing officer. "In a market where actionable information
can make all the difference between landing a dream home or losing
it, we are empowering consumers with an app that provides quick,
accessible property information in the palm of their hands."
The Sign SnapTM equipped realtor.com® app
for Android can be downloaded from the Google Play Store here.
Additional features, including Street PeekTM, are
scheduled to be available on Android in spring 2017, and iOS
availability is scheduled to follow. Both Sign SnapTM
and Street PeekTM are patent-pending features of the
realtor.com® Android real estate app.
