discuss topics ranging from three-dimensional audio and software to
human systems engineering and market and business model challenges
at Convergence 2004 Oct. 18-20 at Cobo Center in Detroit, Michigan.

p.m.) Room 02-33 * Aligning Three-Dimensional Acoustic
Entertainment Visteon's Henry Blind, audio acoustics, Technical
Fellow, will discuss three-dimensional acoustic entertainment and
the value of more realistic music reproduction, the experience and
the technology that brought this capability from the theater and
home to the vehicle. Blind will discuss the market and technical
potential for automotive applications of three-dimensional sound,
technical challenges and considerations, media choices,
distribution considerations and a look toward the future. Tuesday,
Oct. 19 - User Interface Challenges Amid the Increasing Complexity
of Automotive Interiors - (9 a.m. - Noon) Room O3-45 * Aligning
Human-System Integration and Systems Engineering Visteon's Scott
Dittman, human factors engineer, and Arthur Gajewski, manager, Body
& Security and Drive information Systems Requirements
Management, will discuss the ongoing challenge for automotive
product development teams to understand and include Human System
Integration (HSI) processes. They describe an overlay approach,
using an accepted systems engineering process description known as
the N-Squared chart which outlines expected HSI inputs and outputs
to streamline the effectiveness of HSI and the product development
process. * Systems Architecture: Software - (2-5 p.m.) Room O2-33
Visteon's Peter Abowd, software architectures, Technical Fellow,
and General Motors' Gary Rushton will discuss the advantages of an
in-vehicle software and system architecture that effectively
separates the human-machine interface (HMI). The impact on interior
harmony, system and cross-carline costs. In addition, the
presentation will include a comprehensive set of processes and
tools for achieving a successful architectural design. Wednesday,
Oct. 20 - Balancing Mobility Features w/Cost & Quality - (9
a.m. - Noon) Room W2-60 * Communicating Outside the Box Visteon's
Bernie Malonson, product marketing manager, emerging entertainment
and telematics and T.C. Wingrove, product research manager, will
discuss and dimension many of the structural constraints of
existing automotive business models for electronics and multimedia
features and in- vehicle content access. The discussion will
include the impact and possible alternatives for implementation of
connectivity and non-embedded mobile electronic devices such as MP3
players, Personal Video Players (PVP's), Personal Digital
Assistants (PDA's) and Hand-Held GPS units. Visteon Corporation is
