AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Jan. 8 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Drivetrain
and engine components supplied by leading global powertrain
supplier, BorgWarner Inc., power the winning vehicles of the 2007
North American Car and Truck of the Year awards: the Saturn Aura
and Chevy Silverado, both from General Motors. The awards were
announced yesterday during the opening press preview day of the
North American International Auto Show. The Saturn Aura XE, a
premium mid-sized sedan for the family-car market, features
BorgWarner's quiet and efficient HY-VO(R) transmission chain, two
transmission bands, and a one-way clutch for its four-speed
transmission. In addition, the 3.5L V6 model features a BorgWarner
timing system and variable cam timing (VCT) system. With the
highest EPA fuel economy of any full-size pickup truck, Chevy
Silverado models feature BorgWarner HY-VO(R) transfer case chain
and a variety of automatic transmission components including
friction plates, bands, one-way clutches, and pressure control
solenoids. Plus, BorgWarner engine thermal management components
are featured on the Duramax diesel, 6.0L gas and 8.1L gas engines.
"We are proud to contribute our leading powertrain technology and
the benefits of fuel economy, reduced emissions and performance to
these award- winning vehicles," said Tim Manganello, BorgWarner
Chairman and CEO. "Congratulations to GM for this prestigious
industry recognition." BorgWarner Morse TEC engine timing systems
are quiet, durable, precise, and cost effective. Engines equipped
with BorgWarner VCT technology operate independently of oil
pressure to deliver more horsepower, better performance, and
improved fuel economy over traditional cam phasing devices in the
marketplace today. HY-VO(R) chain systems, which are available for
both front wheel drive transmissions and 4WD transfer cases,
transmit power between shafts efficiently, quietly and economically
with considerable weight savings over gear technology. The
economical choice for efficiency, performance and quiet operation,
BorgWarner Thermal Systems viscous fan drives offer the latest in
engineering innovations, operating only when needed for improved
fuel economy and longer engine life. A trusted supplier to
virtually every automatic transmission manufacturer in the world,
BorgWarner Transmission Systems produces "shift quality" components
and systems including one-way clutches, transmission bands,
friction plates and clutch module assemblies as well as
transmission solenoids, control modules and integrated mechatronic
control systems. Auburn Hills, Michigan-based BorgWarner Inc.
