current recession has prompted bankers as well as educators to
realize the importance of what some call "financial literacy," the
tools that enable consumers to better understand - and cope with -

the country - including Comerica Bank - are presenting workshops on
financial literacy - teaching the basics of money management,
credit, and budgets - for seniors, small-business owners, families
and college students. In Oakland, Comerica Bank is reaching even
younger. At the time when they are getting classroom lessons about
money and counting, second-graders from Lincoln Elementary will get
an in-bank lesson in money fundamentals at the Comerica Bank
banking center, 12th & Broadway, four blocks from the
award-winning inner-city school. On Monday, Dec. 14, approximately
100 Lincoln Elementary students will visit Comerica Bank, 1200
Broadway, Oakland, where they will receive a behind-the-scenes tour
of the full-service banking center, plus an "It's Fun to Save"
lesson. The Lincoln students will get a chance to ask Comerica
bankers, in both English and Chinese, questions about money and
banks. The school is predominantly Chinese-American, and the bank's
bilingual staff will answer students' questions. MEDIA OPPORTUNITY:

money - and how to save it and spend it wisely. The educational
tour at Comerica Bank will include the following: -- ATM - Students
look inside an ATM to see how money is deposited, stored and
dispensed and counted -- The vault - Students will get an inside
look at the vault, where they also will learn about safe deposit
boxes, where grownups sometimes store valuables such as jewelry --
Teller booths - Students will learn about transactions at the
