The following table lists unplanned and planned production
outages at U.S. refineries as reported by Dow Jones Newswires. The
information is compiled from both official and unofficial refining
sources and doesn't purport to be a comprehensive list.
Valero Energy Corp. (VLO) on June 13 said its Port Arthur,
Texas, refinery is still operating at reduced rates while efforts
to restart a coker unit continue since a lightning strike on June 6
caused a power failure. A blower malfunction at the plant's FCCU
late on June 11 had no material impact on production, the co. said
also on June 13.
Scheduled maintenance on a reformer unit at BP PLC's (BP, BP.LN)
oil refinery in Whiting, Indiana, has been concluded and the unit
is currently operating at planned rates, a person familiar with
operations at the plant said. The unit, which produces high-octane
gasoline blending components, was taken out of service at the end
of March, along with an alkylation unit, for what was expected to
be 60 days of planned turnaround maintenance.
Suncor Energy (SU) on June 9 said planned maintenance at one of
two crude units and associated equipment had been concluded at its
Edmonton refinery in Alberta, Canada. The plant had already resumed
normal rates.
Valero Energy Corp. on June 9 said a pump snag at an FCCU at its
Los Angeles-area refinery on June 7 had no material impact on
production.
ConocoPhillips (COP) on June 9 said the fire-hit crude unit at
its Bayway refinery in Linden, N.J., remained shut and the plant
continued to run at reduced rates following a June 1 fire.
Exxon Mobil Corp. (XOM) on June 9 said a process unit at its
Joliet, Illinois, refinery was returned to service after going
off-line on May 21. The company wouldn't identify the unit.
Alon Refining (ALJ) on June 8 said its Krotz Springs, Louisiana,
refinery, shut in late May in anticipation of Mississippi River
floodwaters, is in restart mode. Maintenance, planned for
3rd-quarter 2011, was advanced and completed in the time frame.
ConocoPhillips (COP) on June 8 reported excess emissions due to
mechanical issues at its Rodeo, Calif., refinery; the facility
reported flaring activity on June 5, according to filings with
state environmental regulators. The cause of the incidents was not
disclosed.
BP PLC (BP) on June 8 reported the restart plan for FCCU-3 at
its Texas City, Texas. The unit was shut June 7 for 48-hours of
maintenance at an associated Wet Gas Scrubber.
