Air Liquide SA (AI.FR) will collaborate with ArcelorMittal
(MT.FR) on the steelmaker's recycling project for carbon-containing
gases, the French industrial-gases producer said Thursday.
Air Liquide said that it will provide technology to purify
offgas from the steel-making process at ArcelorMittal's plant in
Ghent, Belgium, which will then be used to produce advanced
bioethanol.
The facility, part of an EU funded project called Steelanol, is
expected to start operations at the end of next year, producing 80
million liters of the second-generation biofuel a year.
