Syniverse Technologies (NYSE:SVR), a leading provider of technology
and business solutions for the global telecommunications industry,
today named Laura E. Binion as general counsel, corporate secretary
and senior vice president. Binion will succeed Robert F. Garcia
Jr., general counsel, corporate secretary and vice president, who
is leaving the company after 13 years of service. Rob has been an
essential member of the Syniverse team for many years, and his
contributions have been significant, said Tony Holcombe, president
and CEO of Syniverse. His legal expertise and guidance have been
invaluable, especially during the time Syniverse made its
transformation to a public company and during our recent
acquisitions. Holcombe said Binion is a great choice to lead the
Syniverse legal team. Both the board and I are very pleased to be
working with Laura, he said. The position of general counsel and
corporate secretary is key to our business, and I believe her
impeccable credentials and experience in the telecommunications
industry are an excellent fit for our organization. Binion brings
more than 25 years of experience in corporate legal affairs to
Syniverse. Most recently, she served as executive vice president
and general counsel for CheckFree Corporation, a $1 billion
provider of financial electronic commerce services and products
that was acquired in December 2007 by Fiserv Inc. She also held key
roles with Verizon Wireless, GTE Wireless and Contel Cellular. Im
very pleased to have the opportunity to be part of the Syniverse
team, she said. The company has built an outstanding reputation
in the industry and is making important progress in expanding its
footprint globally. Binion earned her law degree from the
University of Georgia School of Law and her bachelors degree in
political science from the University of Georgia. She graduated
magna cum laude from both programs. About Syniverse Syniverse
