TechForward to Offer Guaranteed Buyback Program at CompUSA and TigerDirect

TechForward, an innovator of financial services for the consumer
electronics industry, announced today that it has reached an
agreement with SYX Services, a company that is an affiliate of, and
provides management services to, TigerDirect.com and CompUSA.com,
to offer Guaranteed Buyback Plans via their web sites and retail
store locations. The plans will be offered through both TigerDirect
(a top-10 retailer of computers and consumer electronics) and
CompUSA (a leading multi-channel retailer of computers and consumer
electronics).
TechForward's Guaranteed Buyback plans lock in trade-in values
for electronics at the point of sale for up to two years in the
future, which makes upgrading to a new device more affordable down
the road. When customers are ready to upgrade, TechForward makes
returning their current devices easy by providing boxes, shipping
labels, and packing materials for free. Customers can then use the
guaranteed amount of TigerDirect or CompUSA store credit they
receive toward the purchase of a new, more powerful device, and
TechForward ensures all returned devices are reused or recycled in
an environmentally-friendly manner.
This Guaranteed Buyback service is fundamentally different from
standard trade-in services because TechForward guarantees trade-in
prices two years from the purchase date, instead of simply giving
the customer a portion of whatever market value is left in their
device when they decide to upgrade. This difference provides more
certainty around resale values for customers that upgrade their
devices every year or two.
"Guaranteed Buyback plans help our customers buy with the
confidence that they can get a guaranteed value out of their device
easily when something new comes out," stated Gilbert Fiorentino,
President of SYX Services. "TechForward's innovative business model
addresses one of the biggest questions on our customers' minds: how
to keep up to date with the latest and greatest electronics
affordably and responsibly."
"This agreement represents the beginning of a new era for
TechForward and the consumer electronics industry," said Jade Van
Doren, Chief Executive Officer of TechForward. "Electronics
retailers are realizing that a growing group of consumers want to
stay up-to-date with the latest and greatest devices, and that
TechForward can help."
"Consumers realize more and more that the laptop, MP3 player, or
digital camera they buy today will not be the model they are
envious of next year," added VP of Operations Marc Lebovitz.
"TechForward's Guaranteed Buyback plans offer consumers a way to
responsibly manage what is increasingly a continual upgrading
process."
