outages at U.S. refineries as reported by Dow Jones Newswires. The
information is compiled from both official and unofficial refining
sources and doesn't purport to be a comprehensive list.
Husky Energy Inc. (HUSKF, HSE.T) said on July 11 it had regular
maintenance slated to start July 16 at its Lima, Ohio, refinery.
The maintenance will have no impact on production, a Husky
spokesman said.
PBF Energy's refinery in Delaware City, Del., said an unknown
amount of sulfur dioxide was released to the atmosphere late on
July 11 due to a flaring event, according to a filing with state
regulators.
Exxon Mobil Corp. (XOM) reported unplanned maintenance July 11
at its refinery in Beaumont, Texas, according to a government
filing made public Thursday. The company did not specify which unit
was being taken off line.
An unspecified unit shut down caused the flaring at the 344,500
barrel-a-day refinery, Exxon said in a filing with the National
Response Center.
Tesoro Corp.'s (TSO) refinery in Wilmington, Calif., experienced
a problem July 9 with the plant's delayed coking unit, according to
a filing with state regulators. Tesoro is investigating the cause
of the problem but said it does not expect the supply to be
affected.
PBF Energy Inc. reported a failed compressor July 9 at its
refinery in Delaware City, Dela., according to a filing with state
regulators. The same refinery had reported a tripped compressor on
July 5.
Citgo Petroleum said a tripped compressor at its Lemont, Ill.,
refinery on July 8 did not effect production.
Phillips 66 (PSX) said it shut down on July 7 the hydrogen plant
at its 139,000 barrel-a-day refinery near Los Angeles for planned
maintenance.
Royal Dutch Shell Plc. (RDSA.LN) reported flaring at its 327,000
barrel-a-day refinery July 4 in Deer Park, Texas, according to a
filing with the National Response Center. A Shell spokeswoman
declined to comment.
CVR Energy Inc. (CVI) said July 6 it was continuing unplanned
maintenance at its 54,000 barrel-a-day refinery in Wynnewood,
Okla., according to a filing with the National Response Center. The
maintenance started around July 3.
Chevron Corp. (CVX) reported a compressor trip at its 260,000
barrel-a-day refinery in El Segundo, Calif., on June 2.
A partial restart of Alon USA's 68,000 barrel-a-day refinery in
Bakersfield, Calif., wsa made June 29, according to marketers and
traders doing business with the refinery. The on again and off
again refinery ran the hydrocracker for three days in May, before
going down and restarting the unit earlier this week with diesel
for sale.
A compressor problem at Shell Oil Co's 157,000 barrel-a-day
refinery in Martinez, Calif., caused flaring at the facility on
June 28, according to traders doing business with the company. It
wasn't known which refinery units were affected.
Motiva Enterprises LLC reported unspecified equipment failure
June 30 at its 235,000 barrel-a-day refinery in Convent, La.,
according to a public filing.
Chevron reported a unspecified unit shutdown at its 330,000
barrel-a-day refinery in Pascagoula, Miss., on June 30, according
to a government filing.
Monroe Energy, a wholly owned subsidiary of Delta Airlines, will
begin an extensive turnaround at it's 185,000 barrel-a-day Trainer
refinery near Philadelphia, on July 4, according to trader's
familiar with the plants operation. The recently purchased refinery
is expected to be running at normal rates by September.
A planned 10 day flaring event has been scheduled at
ExxonMobil's 155,000 barrel-a-day refinery in Torrance, Calif.,
from June 24 through July 4, according to the South Coast Air
Quality Management Districe. The company had scheduled maintenance
on a coker, pre-treater and hydrogen unit from June 4, through June
13.
Citgo on June 12 said planned turnaround maintenance at
unspecified process units at its Lemont, Illinois, refinery had
been completed. The work began at the end of April and traders
doing business in the region said a crude unit was one of the units
slated work.
The smallest of three crude distillation units at BP PLC's (BP,
BP.LN) Whiting, Indiana, refinery was restarted over the weekend, a
source familiar with the plant said on June 11. It was taken out of
service for unplanned work around June 1.
Motiva Enterprises'(RDSA, RDSB) newly-commissioned
325,000-barrels-a-day crude unit at it's Port Arthur, Texas, was
taken out of service over the weekend for weeks, if not months, of
repairs, a source familiar with operations at the plant said on
June 11. The unit was commissioned into service on May 31 and shut
on June 4 to repair leaking valves, the same source said at that
time.
Marathon Petroleum Corp. (MPC) on June 8 told Dow Jones
Newswires that planned maintenance was under way at a number of
operating units at its refinery in Robinson, Ill. No other details
were provided.
