TORONTO, April 11, 2016 /CNW/ - Redline
Communications (www.rdlcom.com) Group Inc. (TSX: RDL) a leading
provider of mission-critical wireless networks, announced today
that Argentina-based oil and gas
provider YPF is proceeding with the second phase of deployment of
its Redline private wireless communications infrastructure. This
network expansion follows a year of YPF demonstrating cost savings
and efficiency improvements with its Redline network.
YPF, an oil and gas leader in Argentina, will use the Redline network to
further expand the digital reengineering of their methods and
procedures in the oilfield. A powerful universal wireless network
is key to realizing the benefits of digitization, allowing devices
and people to have real-time access to systems and enabling
automation and machine-to-machine communications. Redline's proven
reliability coupled with high-speed and low latency performance,
means that for the first time, a single operating network can be
used across all business groups including, drilling, production,
HSE and operations.
"YPF has demonstrated that deploying a digital oilfield wireless
network helps reduce costs and optimizes operations in ways that
that were never before possible," said Mr Mauro Cappella, YPF's chief of communications
and networks. "We are expanding our Redline wireless network,
replacing our older low speed field wireless networks and our more
expensive satellite connections."
In this expansion phase, Redline will provide additional fixed
and mobile/nomadic coverage across YPF's field operations.
Redline's zero-touch installation system with it's self-aligning
and self-provisioning feature set has allowed YPF to eliminate the
requirement for communications field engineers to travel to install
and de-install communications at remote sites. Redline's
equipment is simple and automated – allowing even untrained
employees to bring connectivity to any location in the
oilfield.
"Phase one of the project has been a big success for the field
operations who participated," said Mr Leonardo Iglesias, YPF's chief of special
infrastructure. "Our business units are very pleased with the
simplicity and power of the Redline network and are now relying on
access to instant connectivity anywhere and anytime in our oilfield
– which is what this expansion will make possible."
"YPF is proving that in times of lower oil prices, improved
efficiency and cost savings are both critical and achievable," said
Louis Lambert, Redline vice
president of sales - oil and gas. "Their commitment to innovation
is something the industry should be watching carefully and Redline
is pleased to be their partner in this important project."
Redline's will be providing the end-to-end network including
network design, installation services, hardware and software. The
network will support the voice, data, and video communications
required to support business and automation systems and
technologies anywhere in the oilfield. YPF and Redline expect that
the network expansion, valued at over $1M, will be fully rolled out by approximately
August 2016.
