You are correct !! We FnF shareholders have enjoyed the move up since DJT election result on Nov 6th 2024.

For the Gov the cash settlement isn't coming from them but the GSE's which already have the cash settlement aside! In a statement made by someone in mid 2023 stated the companies already factored in the cash settlement into there earnings report so they new back then they were on the hook to payout.

Why would they say that or plan for that if they already new they were planing on settling the lawsuit and paying out a settlement at some point .

I think the 4th amendment was put in place to stop the Biden admin from releasing and getting the cash for there administration.

Notice how there's been talk about reducing the buffer from 4% ( unrealistic) to the standard bank 2.5 %

Lets not worry about those 5 cents to FMCC commons.. WE have made lot more fold money in last 3 months... Some may say a closure to that case, will open the door for more lawsuits.. but i doubt anymore lawsuits is going to happen.. So lets not put too much value to the 5 cents

Well I look at it as this.

1 Government needs to settle all lawsuits first!

How they do that? Not appeal the 8-0 judgement. Judge finalizes it and then payout ! Shareholders somewhat recoup something.

2 Government wants something in return for releasing GSE's without LP and SPSA?

They write off the SPSA and LP convert  the warrants. They make another $200-$300 billion 

Sounds easy enough right ? But this the Government, lucky now there's some people involved that will fix the mess fast enough

Not until after Jan 20th then you will see movement in some way with the plan to release the GSE. I'd guess it's part of the deal for the Gov to convert the warrants ( dilution) and Gov not to appeal the Jury 8-0 leaving a cash settlement for those holders !

Remember 2 things 

1, Lose a little on common with dilution on your investment from warrants.

2, recoup some losses from the conversion of warrants in the  cash settlement from the Judgement not being appealed by Government .

Hedge fund billionaire Bill Ackman predicted Monday that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac
will finally be freed from their conservatorship during the second Trump administration.
The enterprises stock spiked 18% following his post on X.

Ackman, whose firm Pershing Square Capital Management is a major stockholder in
the enterprises’, said the potential exit from conservatorship was made possible by
the steps taken during the first Trump administration when then-Treasury Secretary
Steven Mnuchin and then-Federal Housing Finance Agency Director Mark Calabria
agreed to end the net worth sweep and allow Fannie and Freddie to begin to
retain capital.

Since then, the GSEs have socked away a combined $168 billion in capital. This is
more than sufficient to cover the type of risk faced by the enterprises, Ackman said.
It’s worth noting, though, that these retained earnings are still completely offset by
an equivalent increase in Treasury’s liquidation preference.

The Pershing leader estimated that the re-privatization of the enterprises will generate
more than $300 billion in profits for the government. This assumes Treasury exercises
its warrants for 80% of the common stock and sells that stock off over the next five years.
Ackman claimed ending the conservatorships will also remove $8 trillion of liabilities
from the federal balance sheet.

In Ackman’s scenario, the Trump administration will agree to write off its senior preferred
stock. Next, the capital ratio of the enterprises will be reduced from more than 4.0% today
to 2.5%, the same level required of mortgage insurers, but for a much less risky asset.
At this level, Ackman says, Fannie and Freddie would only need to raise a combined
$30 billion in capital.

double everything I think of in terms of earnings power ----- as there is FNMA and FREDDIE

Yup - we do not need a price of 60-70 (if only FNMA is used in math)

We can get there with 30-35 -- the exact numbers he uses

And the most important aspect IMO ---- Ackman KILLS the SP/LP and argues GOV already made a profit -- hell I hope he is right

With the LP/SP killed - down to zero ----- a PPS of 25-35 for FNMA is very reachable - as per the math of many many other posters

1. LP and SP wiped out to zero ---- IMO feasible
2. 200-300B profit or cash comes from a combination of F and F --- with say each bringing in 5B shares x $32 or so

TRANSLATION: Entire conservatorship is a fraud.
1) Hank Paulson didn't have the authority to put them in conservatorship.
2) None of the 12 items listed in HERA to justify the conservatorship existed.

If Kelly is successful in challenging the conservatorship:
1) No SPS
2) No 10% dividend.
3) No Net Worth Sweep.
4) No warrants.
5) $110 billion gets returned to Fannie and Freddie.

I know Kelly isn't asking for any of it, but if successful, others can piggyback on the judgement. And no, the statutes haven't expired as the corporations are in conservatorship and their conservator was the guilty party.
