Societe Generale-Forge, a subsidiary of the French bank Societe
Generale, said on Wednesday that it obtained a license to provide
cryptocurrency-asset services in France.
SG-Forge, which specializes in crypto-asset activities, said the
approval by the country's AMF market regulator was the highest
regulatory certification currently possible for digital-asset
activities. It is now licensed for services including the trading,
selling and purchasing of digital assets and the custody of digital
assets, according to the regulator's website.
SG-Forge said the approval comes as it anticipates the
implementation of the European MiCA regulation, which aims to
regulate and secure the crypto-asset market at European Union
level, by 2024.
