UNT Mean Green Meets Green
Rush Opportunity: Creating New Legal Disciplines Among Other New
Career Possibilities For Students Interested In Burgeoning Cannabis
Industry
San Diego, CA - March 28,
2017 - Hemp Educate America Foundation
(HEA)
The evolving body of law
surrounding cannabis is rapidly changing and becoming ever more
complex. The federal government has one set of laws, and each
state has yet another. Those states that have legalized
cannabis struggle with different counties and municipalities that
set yet again different laws and regulations.
Legal specialties exist
for all types of crimes from violent to white collar, and all sorts
of insurance complaints from injury to fraud. Some lawyers
specialize in oil securities and others in international
contracts. The field of cannabis related law has until
recently been fairly cut and dry, but no longer. Cannabis law
is growing, evolving and multiplying and opening up an entirely new
legal area of expertise that will require a huge amount of
attention from pioneering lawyers.
Pre-law and law school
students have an entirely new and wide open field of legal practice
that is only going to get bigger between now and the time they
graduate. Lawyers pursing the emerging legal cannabis industry will
play a vital role in ensuring that the great green revolution
develops ethically and along legally compliant
lines.
The Need for Legal
Innovations
According to Eric Berlin, a partner at Jones Day, there has been a significant shift
in approach and attitude from “how not to get arrested’” to ‘”how
to do it legally.” This paradigm shift requires a legal
strategy shift. More and more legislators are recognizing the
medical benefits of cannabis and the popular demand for
recreational use, and exploring new legal frameworks to transition
from criminal code to civil, and from civil to outright
legalization.
Observing the transitions
already in progress and the mounting pressure on legislators,
leading global law firms have established legal support desks with
special law attorneys and advisors to provide expert counseling and
consultancy to the entrepreneurs and aspirants seeking to venture
into the cannabis industry. Such law firm specialization will
only expand form here.
Millennial Law
Students: Ideal Candidates For Law Firms Expanding Cannabis
Practice
The cannabis lifestyle is
second nature within the millennial culture. That’s not to
say all millennials use cannabis, but most millennials are familiar
with social cannabis use the way their parents are familiar with
[adult beverages] at dinner parties. The cultural
cannabis knowledge that millennials bring to the growing number of
professional positions within the expanding cannabis industry will
be invaluable to cannabis enterprises, to include those law firms
building cannabis practices.
Southwest Cannabis
Conference and Expo April 22-23
The 2nd
Annual Southwest Cannabis Conference and
Expo (SWCC) on April 22 and 23 in Fort Worth, Texas will
be a comprehensive cannabis industry event featuring experts,
consultants, and representatives from all walks and spheres of the
burgeoning cannabis marketplace. The two-day event will
combine current and future cannabis industry leaders on a common
floor to interact, establish networks, seek opportunities and learn
about current and future trends within the
industry.
Dallas, Texas
based, North American Cannabis Holdings,
Inc. (USOTC: USMJ) is bringing to the Expo the
not-for-profit Hemp Educate America (HEA)
Foundation as one of the current leaders within the cannabis
industry helping to accelerate the learning curve of new cannabis
industry enthusiasts with the decade of experience HEA has garnered
in the California cannabis market.
UNT Mean Green
Meets Green Rush
HEA has watched and
admired the launch, growth and ongoing mainstream establishment of
the University of North Texas Dallas Law School.
The non-profit is also familiar with the practical
approach the University of North Texas takes in
preparing Pre-Law students for real world legal practice.
Accordingly, HEA wants to encourage the UNT Mean Green to meet the
Green Rush head on at the coming SWCC in Fort Worth, April
22-23.
Aside from business and
investments, the conference is a huge opportunity for the students
of law and legal affairs at the University of North Texas.
With a significant endowment size of $143.4 billion, and in
light of its acclaimed Legal and Political curriculum,
the University of North Texas should be a
first choice for aspiring lawyers and future lawmakers.
The SWCC event will prove to be of immense
value to law students and all other students by providing insight
into the current, ongoing and future trends of the cannabis
industry and what careers those trends might lead
to.
