                 AUSTRALIAN OPPORTUNITIES INVESTMENT TRUST PLC

                             Annual General Meeting


At the annual general meeting of Australian Opportunities Investment Trust PLC,
held today, all resolutions set out in the notice of annual general meeting were
passed. These included a change of name of the Company to Stocks Convertible
Trust PLC and a change in the Company's investment objective. The Company's new
investment objective is to maximise shareholder value by investing in a
portfolio of convertible securities anywhere in the world.

Copies of the resolutions passed (other than relating to the routine business of
the annual general meeting) have been sent to the UK Listing Authority's
Document Viewing Facility and will be available for inspection there.
