Statement re: CMA Investigation
Berendsen, Europe's leading textile service business, announces
that its UK Cleanroom business is the subject of an investigation
by the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) under the
Competition Act 1998. The UK Cleanroom business had turnover of
approximately GBP7 million in 2015, representing less than 1% of
the Group's revenue.
The investigation relates to a joint venture to which a
Berendsen subsidiary was a party, including in relation to
agreements entered into by the joint venture in May 2012. The
subsidiary was acquired by Berendsen in September 2014. The joint
venture and the agreements were terminated in February 2016. The
investigation involves only the UK Cleanroom business; no other
Berendsen business lines and/or geographies are included in this
investigation.
Berendsen is co-operating fully with the CMA and will update the
market on the development of the investigation as appropriate.
