          Stability Agreements for Monterrico's Peruvian subsidiaries



LONDON:  8 August 2007:  Monterrico is pleased to announce that the Government
of Peru has issued a Ministerial Resolution to approve two Stability Agreements
which will be entered into with Monterrico's Peruvian subsidiaries: Rio Blanco
Copper Limited and Minera Majaz S.A. The agreements will be signed shortly by
senior Government representatives.

These Stability Agreements provide important guarantees to Monterrico by
providing formal registration of the Company's investment in Peru. They will
also guarantee that the tax and labour regimes existing at the time of execution
of the agreements will remain unchanged during their 10 year term. The other
main benefits include the free transferability of foreign currency, non
discrimination regarding exchange rates, and free trade of mineral products.

Mr. Richard Ralph, Non-Executive Chairman, said "We are delighted with this very
clear indication by the Government of Peru of the importance it attaches to our
investment in the country. We are also pleased to offer our shareholders an
additional guarantee to their investment in Monterrico and in Rio Blanco, the
Company's flagship project. Meanwhile, the Company will continue to work closely
with the local communities to ensure that the development of Rio Blanco proceeds
apace and benefits all stakeholders within the footprint of the Project and the
country of Peru as a whole."
