The Company was notified on 12 December 2003 that The Trustees of The BT Pension
Scheme, Hermes Investment Management Limited, as at 11 December 2003 had a
disclosable interest in 3,186,912 ordinary shares in the Company representing
11.97 per cent of the issued share capital of that class.  Of the above
mentioned shares, 2,079,441, representing 7.81 per cent of the ordinary issued
share capital are registered in the name of Chase Nominees Ltd.
