Total SE said Tuesday that it has signed agreements with Shanghai-based state-owned Shenergy Group Co. for the supply of liquefied natural gas and the creation of a joint venture for the sale of LNG in China.

The French oil-and-gas major said one of the agreements is for the supply of up to 1.4 million tons a year of LNG from Total, which will also supply LNG to Shanghai Gas, the natural gas subsidiary of Shenergy Group.

The other agreement is for the creation of a joint venture--in which Total will own 49% and Shenergy Group 51%--for the sale of LNG in Shanghai and throughout the neighboring Yangtze River Delta regions.
