Purchase of Own Securities

International Energy Group Limited ("IEG" or the "Company") announces that on 13
May 2003, it purchased for cancellation 160,000 ordinary shares in the Company
at 137.5 pence per ordinary share. Following the cancellation of these shares,
the issued share capital of IEG will be 73,417,303 ordinary shares.
