PARIS--French train maker Alstom SA (ALO.FR) Friday said it
signed a contract with the Iranian government to start talks on the
development of railways in the Middle East country.
The company, which makes TGV bullet-trains, will start
discussing ways to address Iran's needs for mainland and urban
transportation, as well as the production of trains in the
country.
Since selling its power equipment-making unit to General
Electric last year, Alstom has focused on the manufacturing of
locomotives and rolling stock, as well as railway servicing.
