General Motors Co. electric vehicles will appear in some Netflix Inc. shows and films, which the companies said reflects "society's increasing excitement about an all-electric future."

GM Global Chief Marketing Officer Deborah Wahl said in a press release that "we want to make EVs famous on streaming, small and silver screens to build an EV culture through storytelling that incorporates the experiences of driving and owning an EV."

"At Netflix, we create shows and films that can influence culture and spark meaningful conversations," Netflix Chief Marketing Officer Marian Lee said, citing examples including climate change discussions related to its movie "Don't Look Up."

The effort includes commercials with Will Ferrell that will air during the Super Bowl.
