GREER, S.C., Sept. 2 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Ryan's Restaurant Group, Inc. (NASDAQ:RYAN) today reported sales results for the 4-week period ending August 31, 2005 ("August"). Same-store sales decreased by 4.0% during the period. Excluding the last week of the period, thereby eliminating the impact of Hurricane Katrina, same-store sales would have decreased by 3.2%. Other details and comments follow: (Unaudited) August 2005 Total sales (000's) $62,100 Change from prior year -1% Average unit sales: Same stores (open at least 18 mos.) -4.0% All stores (includes new units) -2.8% Hurricane Katrina initially disrupted operations at 13 of the Company's restaurants in Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama due to either structural issues or power outages. As of September 2, 2005, seven of these restaurants continue to be closed, mostly due to power outages. Management is assessing the condition of these restaurants and has not yet determined when they will reopen. At August 31, 2005, the Company owned and operated 344 restaurants.
