Synaptics TouchView TDDI Portfolio Expands with Feature-Rich TD4303 Solution
13 October 2016 - 11:00PM
Synaptics Incorporated (NASDAQ:SYNA), the leading developer of
human interface solutions, today announced expansion of its touch
controller and display driver integration (TDDI) product portfolio
with its new TD4303 hybrid in-cell solution. Synaptics TouchView™
TDDI technology marked an inflection point for a new era in
smartphone architectures and is today shipping in mass production
volumes -- with many of the world’s top brands now releasing
TDDI-based models to the market.
The TouchView TD4303 further expands Synaptics’ ability to
address this fast growing TDDI-based smartphone market with its
first-in-the-industry support for hybrid in-cell panel technology.
TD4303 supports Full HD resolution and includes integrated RAM
which provides lower power and enables an extended feature-set –
ideal for mainstream LTPS-based smartphones.
“Our first-to-market leadership in TDDI technology has garnered
terrific traction and we are today shipping significant volumes of
these solutions,” said Kevin Barber, senior vice president, general
manager, Smart Display Division, Synaptics. “Synaptics is now the
only company with TDDI solutions supporting both full in-cell and
hybrid in-cell technology, and as we continue to fill out our TDDI
portfolio, it is highly gratifying to see our vision of touch and
display integration come to fruition.”
Synaptics’ TouchView TDDI portfolio spans resolutions ranging
from HD to WQHD and is designed to accelerate the architectural
revolution of smartphones. TouchView combines Synaptics’
best-in-class touch controller IP and display driver technology
with its proven systems level expertise into a single-chip
solution. TDDI delivers lower overall system cost, simplifies the
supply chain and enables thinner devices, brighter displays and
borderless designs for both full in-cell and hybrid in-cell panel
stack-ups.
Synaptics TouchView solutions feature innovative and patented
touch controller capabilities, such as support for up to ten
fingers, passive stylus, face detection, low-power wake-up
gestures, gloved touch, and superior moisture performance.
Proprietary display driver features include support for billion
color displays, sunlight readability enhancement, and local area
auto-contrast adjustment. Image Studio, Synaptics’ unique software
development kit, empowers OEMs and LCMs with tools for rapid and
custom fine tuning of their displays.
