Exicure, Inc. (the “Company”) is unable to file its Quarterly Report on Form 10-Q for the period ended September 30, 2023 within the prescribed time period due to unforeseen circumstances as the Company attempts to finalize certain accounting treatments and complete necessary reviews. As a result, the Company does not currently expect to file its Quarterly Report on Form 10-Q by the prescribed due date, but fully expects to file within the extension period allowed pursuant to Rule 12b-25.

As previously disclosed, in September 2022, the Company announced a significant reduction in force, suspension of preclinical activities and halting of all research and development, and that the Company was exploring strategic alternatives to maximize stockholder value. Consistent with what has been already been reported for earlier 2023 interim periods, research and development expenses are substantially decreased from 2022 levels through September 30, 2023. General and administrative expenses through September 30, 2023 are expected to be higher than 2022 levels.
