Donations - Totaling $55,000 - Awarded to Organizations Chosen by
Winners NEW YORK, Nov. 7 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- The deadline to
submit nominations for the 2006 Welcome Back Awards, a national
awards program that recognizes heroes of the depression community,
is fast approaching. Nominations are due by November 14, 2005. The
Welcome Back Awards, sponsored by Eli Lilly and Company, honors
individuals from every walk of life for advancing a greater
understanding of depression and access to treatment. Each year, an
independent panel of mental health experts selects five winners in
the categories of lifetime achievement, destigmatization, community
service, primary care and psychiatry. Winners share a total of
$55,000, to be donated to the not-for-profit organizations of their
choice. Sue Bergeson, Vice President of the Depression and Bipolar
Support Alliance, has been a member of the Welcome Back Awards
community for several years now. For her, the awards serve to bring
public focus onto a condition that has been in the dark for too
long. "The Welcome Back Awards illuminates the personal struggles
of people who have overcome the illness," according to Ms.
Bergeson. "There are outstanding programs, dedicated community
workers and exceptional health care practitioners and psychiatrists
who have devoted their lives to aiding people with depression, and
they deserve to be honored." The winners will be announced in
spring of 2006. How to Nominate Someone Anyone, except employees of
Lilly, may nominate someone for a Welcome Back Award. Nomination
